Safe Surfing

Spam, Spyware, Pfishing, Identity Theft, it’s enough to scare you half to death, but the biggest concern most folks have is protecting their kids as the Internet becomes one of their primary education and social interaction tools. Here’s a few sites that can make having a safe surfing experience easier to accomplish for all of us.

Netsmartz  

Netsmartz.org is an interactive, educational safety resource from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC) and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) for children aged 5 to 17, parents, guardians, educators and law enforcement officials that uses age-appropriate, 3-D activities to teach children how to stay safer on the Internet. It has special sections for Kidz and for Teens.

OnGuardOnline   

OnGuardOnline.gov provides practical tips from the federal government and the technology industry to help you be on guard against Internet fraud, secure your computer, and protect your personal information.

StaySafe   

Safe   

StaySafe.org is an educational site intended to help consumers understand both the positive aspects of the Internet as well as how to manage a variety of safety and security issues that exist online. Funded by Microsoft  the guidance may include behavioral, product and technical solutions.

WebWatcher  

WebWatcher lets you know what your kid is doing on the web. It lets parents block any webpage based on what's on it or the address.  You can see screen shots of what is on your kids monitor, and read all their e-mail's or im's and see who they are talking to.
